The Tree
“Timber!” I yelled, as the tree came crashing down. I was at home with my babysitter, John and my brothers. We were in the woods behind my house looking for trees to push down. As we walked into the woods a burst of the smell of dead leaves blew at our faces. The leaves were brown as burnt toast. As we were walking through the woods we saw vines. We stopped and swung on the vines. First we had our babysitter hang onto the vine to see if it was sturdy. ¨You guys can swing on then,¨ said John. So we swung on the vines. Since I was like 6 I started to sing the Diego theme song. I was singing the part about the vine because we were swing on a vine. We had our fun and then we saw it...a 50 - 75 foot dead tree. Sebastian said, “That's a big tree!”
Then I said, “Definitely.”
As we were walking to the tree we heard leaves crinkling beneath us. Carl said, “Let's push it down.”
I said, “Cool!¨
The huge, brown-sugar colored dead tree was filled with holes from a wood pecker.
John said, “I’ll do what I can.”
We waited for 30 - 45 minutes and then we heard a crack and another crack then...TIMBER and the tree came crashing down.
When the tree hit the ground I thought myself, that was amazing!
We all cheered when the 50 - 75 foot tree was down. When it hit
the ground it made a super loud boom. My brother said, “That was
AWESOME!” As we were walking back a chilly wind smashed my
face. Then I said out loud, “Hot chocolate would taste really good
right now.” Everyone agreed so when we got back, John made it
for us.
What a great day I thought.
