The Touchdown

Mackenzie hopped off the bus with excitement. I can't wait till the big question today, thought Mackenzie as she skipped up the driveway. ¨How was your day sweetie,¨ asked Mackenzie's mom. “Awesome! Can I ask you a question?” asked Mackenzie with a nervous look on her face. “Of course sweetie, any time!” replied her mom. “I meant when we get inside,” corrected Mackenzie, as they opened the garage door.
When they entered the house it was silent, like a mouse on Christmas Eve. As the door opened she saw a BIG letter on the kitchen table, it read…

Dear  family ,

Hi  Mackenzie, mom, dad!  I will  see you before you know it! I miss you all, tell Casey that too. Hi Allen. I’m going to tell  you all  about my  AWESOME adventure!!
     Love,
     Danny
P.S... Love you all!!

“So, what did  you want to tell me?” asked Mackenzie’s mom.
“Oh yeah, um please say yes . Can I PLEASE play football? I really want to, please, please , please , please , please, please, please, please, please, I love it so much!?” asked Mackenzie, kneeling with her hands smacked together. Sweetie, I'm sorry, but it's just too much, it'll get in the way of dance, gymnastics, and cheer, replied her mom with a depressed look on her face. “I’ll think about it , it’s not a yes or no, but you may not play for now,” said her mom, Mackenzie turned her cheerful face into a full face of sadness . She loved football so much, just the thought of not being able to play football made her feel blue.

The time passed by, 2 hours . Casey came back home from work, he was worn out , but they still played video games together , the game they played was Sonic The Hedgehog Battle 2! “So Mackenzie, ready to lose?” asked Casey. “Oh, are you talking to yourself,  cause if you are, you're right!” replied Mackenzie, with a slight smile on her face. The game started and off they went, Casey in the lead, Mackenzie catching up. It’s a close call,  Casey rushing to the end for the win! And he passed the goal and won!! “I was saying you would lose, I was right!” bragged Casey. “ I want a rematch!” Replied Mackenzie , the game began again , that time Mackenzie won which led them to the finals , so they pressed the rematch button and the game began . At first they were in a tie, then Casey was ahead . He curved and did some tricks, then came the the goal up ahead, I won, you lost ha , ha, ha,” Casey bragged . “I know.” replied Mackenzie .“
Now I pick the game! How about . . . Football game day .”
“ Oh come on , really .” Said Mackenzie with a dreadful voice . “ I thought you loved football, Mak.” said Casey in a shocked voice .
“ I do but … mom said it talks up dance, cheer, and, gymnastics she still needs to think about it .”
“Just because you may not play, does not mean you have thate it I mean you're still amazing at it .” said Casey .
“You're right Case, let's play, you're so gonna cry when I win.” replied Mackenzie .

The time passed by and it got late, soon it was time for bed . She ate her favorite dinner, tacos (ONLY with meat, cheese, and lettuce ). As she stuffed her food into her mouth her father asked . . . “I heard you would like to play football, is that true ?”
“ Yes , I love it , not just to watch but also to play! I really want to play, so can I  PLEASE??
With a hopeful face her father said, “ I’m sorry but with dance, cheer , and gymnastics , we still need time to think about it, okay ?”
“Okay,” replied Mackenzie . After they were all done with their tacos , Mackenzie overheard her parents talking about letting her play !  She quickly ran to the couch while gripping the remote she pressed the power button to turn on the TV . After watching 5 episodes of Cristly Knows Best , she didn”t realize how late it got she rushed upstairs to her bedroom , she jumped into her bed while pulling up her covers .
Before she knew it she fell fast asleep.  “And welcome to the “Big game” , today we have Aspetuck wild cats and the Knights ,” said the host , 24 , 38 , hike , Mackenzie catches the ball she runs , someones coming for a takle, but Makenzie dodges it , and she dives for a touchdown , score , Makenzie  made the first touchdown in the game! Beep , beep , beep , her alarm clock went off . Of course it was a dream, and a good one too, thought Makenzie.

Mackenzie ran down the stairs while brushing her wavy chestnut hair . “ Honey here are your scrambled eggs,” Called her mom.
“ Thank you , mom,” Mackenzie called back.  After she ate she quickly brushed her teeth and then got dressed .
“ I hear the bus,” shouted her father. “ Run!!” warned Mackenzie . They quickly ran to the bus . “ By sweetie , love you”. Love you too, bye,” replied Mackenzie .
She hopped on, then took her seat . “ Are you playing football today?” asked Brian .
“Of course , anyone who doesn't play is obviously weird, I asked my parents if I could play…”  “What did they say,” Brian interrupted . “They said  they need to think about it .” replied Mackenzie . “Oh that stinks, coach needs a new quarterback for the team , and you are quarterback material.” replied Brian .
“I really hope you play so they can get a quarterback, and I would love to cheer for you at a football game,” said Jessica. Jessica and Brian were brother and sister. “Maybe if you beg they’ll say yes,” suggested Jessica.
“No, my parents aren’t like that, once they make up their mind, it's official,” replied Mackenzie with an upset tone in her voice as they went into the school.

When Mackenzie got home from school that day she could not believe it.  Her parents decided to let her play as long as she continued to follow through with everything else she had to do.. Sometimes patience pays off...
