The Close Victory

When I showed up to the baseball field, I saw my team (orange) and the other team (maroon, we beat them once already). My baseball coach was saying “Alright, we are missing four players, but two said they said they would be here, we just have to be patient and wait for them.  We will have just enough players to fill the field when they get here.” But then they showed up and we had just enough players to fill the field. We went to our positions. I was on bench. After the first hit, the ball was going to the outfield. The ball was going to right field and our right fielder caught the ball. Then the pitcher was preparing to throw.Strike! The umpire yelled. Then it was our turn to bat.  We switched when the score was 5-0. Maroon was winning. I was trembling because we may lose. We got two runs when we were batting. My heart started pounding when it was my turn to bat. In my mind I was thinking, I’m gonna screw up. Under my feet I felt the dirt as I walked to home base with my heart pounding. I didn’t hit the ball. Then we went out to the field. We were still losing. They hit and got one point. We batted again. Then we got 3 more and then we switched and it was 8-9 and both teams were feeling pressure. We tried as hard as we could to win. Crack!! The ball was hit by CJ. Here comes a runner and he got a run then another then another and the game is over. We won the game!! We said good game and went to right field. The game ball was given to CJ for his hit that gave us 3 points. The end score was 11-9. And we won. Then we all packed up and left. A week later my mom showed me an article in the newspaper. It was our team showed in the paper. It was about how we barely won.
