The Coyotes
“Where were you?” I asked as Allena, Kate and Georgia came into the lunchroom. “We got lost,” they said huffing into the room. They looked really scared and said they heard noises in the woods. We asked if it was scary and they said yes. Then they told us they found a woman in the woods and she took them back to the lunchroom.
Next we all hurried to our cabin and got into bed really scared. When Emily’s mom came in and said stay inside there are coyotes in a out of breath type of voice. After that we were as scared as a beetle being chased and going as fast as it could but still we were silent. But I could tell I was not the only one who was scared because everyone else looked as scared as I was.
Some people were so scared because they were crying and hiding under there blanket but we did try to make them feel better by talking to them a lot and we tried to be funny. It kind of worked but then some moms came in and Lauren's mom told us stories. But when she left we still could not go to bed even though we tried and tried.
We talked a little and told stories but good ones. Then we heard it. “Coyotes,” we whispered. Shaking we got out of bed and ran back then we started to tell comedies because we were so scared and they were very funny but we kept hearing coyotes so we kept telling more and more of them.
When we finally fell asleep I was relieved and I hoped I would never hear the coyotes again. The memory raced through my body like a fire bolt.
