Dear Ms. Whalen,
Too much homework is overloading students. I think schools should have no homework because kids already spend a lot of time in school. Kids spend too much time on homework. Kids who have activities when they get home from school have a hard time doing homework, and when kids have too much homework they can not spend time with their family.
Children in fourth grade to sixth grade spend about 2 to 3 hours on homework. Kids that are in 4th grade to 5th have about 2 to 5 pages of homework so when they get home and they have all that homework to do it becomes a hassle. Sometimes the homework we have, we didn't learn.
Another reason why students should not have homework is because kids who have activities when they get home from school they have a hard time getting it completed. When I get home I have to go to dance practice . I get home at 8:00 and I have to do my homework so I end up staying up late at night and I’m so tired I can’t think anymore.
Kids spend too many hours in school, so when they get home their head hurts. The day needs to be short end. Like Wilbur Cross gets out at 2:30. My school gets out at 4; and I get home at 4:30. This is too late to start homework. Maybe if the school day started a little bit earlier we would be able to get our homework done. Students sometimes get homework that they don’t know.
One more reason why students should not have homework is because when students have a lot of homework they do not spend time with their family. They end up doing their homework for a long periods of time and when they finish they go to bed because it is so late. Some children feel stressed out and they end up falling asleep while they do their homework.
In conclusion, I think schools should have no homework because kids already spend a lot of time in school. Kids spend too much time on homework. Kids who have activities when they get home from school have a hard time doing homework, and when kids have too much homework they do not spend time with their family.
From,
Martina M.
