Dare Essay

Fifth Grade has become a very important year for many reasons. More importantly and essentially, I learned about D.A.R.E.  D.A.R.E stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. This has become so important because I have learned things about drug and alcohol abuse that I might not have known if I hadn’t participated in D.A.R.E, and it has therefore given me skills to help me prevent falling to peer pressure or bad choices. I am excited to tell you about importance of avoiding drugs and alcohol, and give you more information on how to stay away from these substances the right way.

It is crucial to be drug free and to avoid violence. Taking drugs and being involved in brutality can change you as a person, and ruin your relationships, mental health, and overall opportunities. To top that off, being involved in use of drugs and taking part in violence completely breaks down your physical health, accelerating your risks and vulnerability to illnesses. As you can see, it is so important to stay away and free of risks such as drugs and violence.
The main part of my D.A.R.E. experience was learning about the D.A.R.E. decision making process, and being exposed to facts about drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes that helped me come to a realization about the lethal effects of such substances. Learning the decision making process was a huge part of my education on substance abuse. Another thing D.A.R.E has come to stand for is that process. D stands for Define, A stands for Assess, R stands for Respond, and E stands for Evaluate. This model is a new fundamental for me because I now realize how to handle these situations, and I am sure it will help me stay drug and violence free. Another part of the program was learning facts about what could happen if you abuse drugs and other dangerous items. One thing I learned was that there are 200 known poisons in tobacco, and that 400,000 people die each year from smoking. These were just some of the facts I learned, and this is only some of the things in D.A.R.E. that motivate me to stay drug and violence free.

I have really enjoyed my time during the D.A.R.E. Program. It has been a beneficial learning experience that has inspired and determined me to stay away from drugs. I think the program helps kids understand the danger of substances. I am thankful for D.A.R.E  because it has improved my awareness.

D.A.R.E. has become a great experience for me, and I am now  happy to be educated on safety and prevention of drugs. I pledge to make good decisions and be wise with any choices I make, especially when comes to risks like drugs and violence. I am now a Junior D.A.R.E. Officer, and I am proud to say it has made me a better person.
