Comparing Elizabeth and The Giving Tree
Both Elizabeth from The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch, and the tree from The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, are kind. Both Elizabeth and the Tree are kind because they each go out to help someone and make them happy. They each help, but not much for themselves. Throughout the book they both show a lot of kindness to others, not just themselves.
Elizabeth from The Paper Bag Princess is kind because she went out of her way to save a bum. I know Elizabeth is kind because she saved Ronald from a dragon. In the text when it said “she decided to chase the dragon to get Ronald back.” The text shows that Elizabeth is kind. I know Elizabeth is kind because she helped someone even though she is not a superhero. In the book she went and made the dragon so tired and went to save Ronald. Elizabeth could not have went out of her way to do a superheros job but she wanted to be kind and save him herself. That is why she is kind.
The tree from the giving tree was kind because she gave the boy apples so he can get money and be happy. Another time I know that the tree is kind is that to make him happy she gives him sticks to build a house and be happy. In the book when it said “and she loved a little boy.” This also shows that she is kind. At the time the tree was very lonely but that didn’t stop her at being kind. At the end of the book she gives him a nice place to sit and rest. Throughout the book the tree was very thoughtful.
Even though in the end Elizabeth didn't get married after all and for The Giving Tree they were friends to the end. They are very kind because if we didn’t have people like them I don't know what the world would be like. One of their differences is that one is human and one is a part of nature. As you can see the are both very kind.
