Literary Essay
Both Irene from Brave Irene and Elizabeth from The Paper Bag Princess are characters who are brave. In Brave Irene the author William Steig shows that Irene is brave and in The Paper Bag Princess the author Robert Munsch shows that Elizabeth is brave. Irene doesn’t want to give up just because the wind talking to her. “GO HO-WO-WOME!” Elizabeth doesn't let the dragon ruin her whole day she tells the dragon who’s boss.
Irene is brave because for example she went in the blizzard when she didn’t have to in the text it says “I can go out there.” This part shows that Irene really didn’t have to go in that freezing cold weather and that shows bravery when you can see in the distance. My second reason why Irene is brave is when she doesn’t stop moving even when the dress flies away. This part shows she doesn’t look back she kept going to look for the dress. My final piece of evidence is when she stood up to the talking wind. This part shows that she doesn’t care about TALKING WIND! She only cares about her mom. In the text it says “ GO HO-WO-WOME!”
Elizabeth is brave because she’s bugging the dragon with all the work she asks the dragon to do. This part shows that the dragon could get really mad and Elizabeth is risking her life because I bet the dragon doesn’t want to do work. My second piece of evidence is when the dragon smashes the castle. This part shows that Elizabeth doesn't cry about it she tells the dragon off. My last piece of evidence is when she tricks the dragon into use all his fire breath. She’s risking her life here. In the text it says “He was easy to follow, because he left a trail of burnt forests and horses bones.
Both Irene and Elizabeth are very brave characters. All of my pieces of evidence convinces me that there are so brave as you can see. Irene ended up with finding the dress and giving it to the duchess and she ended up happily ever after never ever give up! And with Elizabeth her and the prince never got married after all because he was judging and by that she was happy without him and she lived happily ever after never ever judge people!
