  Hurricane Sandy

It was a dark and stormy night in the middle of Hurricane Sandy.  We had lost power.  All we had was an iPad, a computer, and the radio that my aunt brought up.   We were living in New York City when this happened and my aunt and uncle lived downstairs from us.   We all agreed to have a sleepover in our apartment while my uncle kept their dog company below, because she did not like the thunder and lightning. She was older and it scared her. My brother, my mom, my dad, my Aunt Ann and I made a big fort.  We used a bunch of chairs and blankets which we had a lot of. The street was two to three inches deep with water. There was a bunch of stuff floating through it.

This picture was taken near where I lived, maybe about ten miles away from my home. This is near where my dad went to the beach, so that is why my street did not look like that. After the storm when we watched the news, I was pretty scared to see how close the fire was to my home.  We also helped the clean up party with all the garbage Sandy left on the streets.  In the end lots of the city was badly damaged, but I was happy to be with my family.
