Earrings of Gold
On St. Patrick’s Day morning a girl named Hailey really wanted to see a leprechaun so she could have gold to make gold earrings with. Hailey set a trap before her class went to lunch. She could not wait to see a leprechaun so she could make her gold earrings. When Hailey and the class got back she raced to her trap, but the leprechaun was not there. Once she got home, she told her family to go outside so the leprechaun could come then. She was sure he wouldn’t come if there was any noise at all. When she came back, the leprechaun was in her trap in the garden. Hailey let the leprechaun out of the garden trap, but he ran away from her. Suddenly, he came out and said, “I guess you saw me, so I have to give you my gold.” Hailey answered, I do not want your gold. I just want to make a necklace for you.” A smile came to his face from ear to ear. He jumped up and down happily. They became friends quickly. The leprechaun came to Halley’s house and gave Hailey gold for a necklace. He also made her the cutest pair of gold shamrock earrings, which she still wears to this day.
