Essay on Those Shoes
by Maribeth Boelts
In the story Those Shoes, by Maribeth Boelts, Jeremy wants the shoes that basically everyone has. But when all the kids laugh at his Mr. Alfrey shoes he is brave by not going to cry about any dumb shoes. Throughout  the story Jeremy is brave.
One way I know Jeremy is brave is because the text says ”When I come back to the classroom Allen Jacoby take a look at my Mr. Alfrey shoes and laugh and so does Brandon T., Terrence and everyone else.” This shows he is being brave by saying, “I'm not going to cry about any dumb shoes.”
Another way I know that Jeremy is brave is because the text says “They're okay I say , holding my my breath that my toes will fall off right then in there.” This part shows he is brave because it shows that he is praying and hoping his toes will fall off right then in there so he won’t feel left out and not get laughed at.
My last piece of evidence is when he says “ I have to wear my Mr. Alfery shoes to school instead.” This shows he is brave by wearing the shoes he hates and being brave he doesn't care that everyone laughs he just needs to wear some shoes.
That shows that I think that he is brave throughout the story. My pieces of evidence support my claim. He is brave by all those parts in the story, all three pieces of evidence. The lesson learned is no matter what people's shoes look like or are don't laugh at the people because it hurts their feelings. At the end Jeremy and Antonio have fun and they don't care what there shoes are or look like. He is brave by all the things he does in this essay.

He is brave!
